Bertille Bak is part of the exhibition entitled WOMEN, together at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens. Her works Rayonnage and Faire le mur are presented for the inauguration of the museum’s permanent collection on the 3rd floor.
This exhibition is part of a year-long exhibition programme entitled What if Women Ruled the World? dedicated exclusively to the work of female artists or artists who identify as female.
Katerina Gregos, EMST Athens artistic director, notes: “This is the very first time a major public museum is exhibiting exclusively work by women artists, in both its permanent collection and temporary exhibition programme. Women artists and cultural practitioners are still underrepresented in most aspects of the art world and we wanted to reverse the narrative to radically reimagine what a museum would look like if, instead of a few token pieces, works by women artists were the majority.”
