Opening Saturday January 17, 2026 from 3 to 8pm
Xippas is pleased to present Magenta, a personal exhibition by Alain Biltereyst bringing together his recent work. Born in 1965, the Belgian artist draws inspiration from the urban environment and transposes its visual elements, such as signs, logos, and grids, into geometric forms rendered in pure, simple colors (yellow, blue, or red). These elements form his visual language, which he uses to compose abstract paintings on wooden panels of various formats.
Magenta, the title of his new exhibition at the gallery, refers to Parisian topography. The Boulevard de Magenta, which connects the Gare de l’Est to the gallery’s neighborhood, is the route the artist follows on his way to the gallery. This grounding in the urban landscape—an environment the artist tirelessly explores in search of visual inspiration—is also reflected in a video testimony included in the exhibition.
