On July 4th 2025, French artist Philippe Ramette will unveil Éloge de la contemplation, a new public sculpture installed at the Terrasses de la Presqu’île in Lyon. Part of the public art project for the reconquest of the Banks of the Saône, the River Movie, under the artistic direction of Jérôme Sans.
The work depicts a seated figure seemingly floating in mid-air, suspended above the Saône River by steel cables. This striking installation invites visitors to pause and reflect while offering a fresh perspective on the city’s riverfront. The sculpture continues Ramette’s artistic exploration of gravity, balance, and spatial perception, creating a unique interaction between art, architecture, and the urban environment.
