This submerged reincarnation of Leandro Erlich’s celebrated Order of Importance (2019), is an installation of a life-size, traffic jam of twenty-two concrete car modules for sealife to colonize, approximately 700 feet off Miami Beach’s South Beach. Symbolically reversing the effect our actual cars have on the environment, these sculptures will contribute to restoring damaged natural habitats.

Leandro Elrich’s monumental underwater installation Concrete Coral, is composed of 22 life-sized cars made from marine-grade concrete resting on the ocean floor. This submerged “trafic jam”, aims to from a habitat for marine life. The sculptures are equipped with Coral Loks tu anchor baby corals and support their growth.

Once symbols of motion and consumption, these cars now become vehicles for transformation, symbolically reversing their damage to serve as platforms where thousands of corals and marine life will take hold and flourish, a haunting yet hopeful metaphor for our impact on the planet.
