Blair Thurman's work at La Condition Publique in Roubaix, France

Blair Thurman 2KM05T~4

Blair Thurman creates multi-dimensional paintings that recall the pleasures of the road or the big screen of our youth. His influences range from pop art to minimalism, popular music, 70’s cinema and his childhood memories. Standardized figures from small race car tracks, architectural settings and compositions from everyday life take on a nostalgic quality. His work Smoke On The Water (Deep Purple) (Acrylic on wood on plexiglass) shown in this exhibition represents his overall inspiration.

Humain Autonome: fossiles mécaniques is an exhibition curated by Marianne Derrien, Sarah Ihler-Meyer and Salim Santa Lucia and produced by La Condition Publique in Roubaix, France.

It is registered as a Resonance of the Euroregional Triennial “Art & Industry” of the Frac Grand Large Hauts-de-France (10.06 .2023 – 14.01.2024).

It is the second part of a cycle started with Joyridin at Frac Normandie Caen in February 2023 and which will continue in 2024 at MacVal (Vitry-sur-Seine).

In this collective show, around thirty artists are gathered to highlight the modern heritage by comparing the imaginations and realities of the civilization of the engine.
