Vera Lutter: Museum in the Camera
Courtesy LACMA and the artist
The film realised by LACMA documents Vera Lutter’s two-years residency at the Los Angeles museum and follows the artist at work during this period.
Along this residency, Vera Lutter undertook an ambitious project, photographing the LACMA building just before its renovation as well as the masterpieces from the Museum collection, especially Old Masters gallery. The viewer has a rare possibility to discover Vera Lutter’s unique working method and to follow her during the take of her photographs, from the technical preparations to a mysterious moment of the appearance of the image on the photographic paper.
The LACMA residency lasted from February 2017 to January 2019 and resulted in a major solo exhibition. While the ongoing exhibition is on hold due to the current situation, we invite you to discover the project through this film.
